'UPTOWN' A Modern Review

"Reminiscent of  Cotton Club Shows from days gone by, 'UPTOWN' showcases sultry standards and silky soul from yesterday and today thickened at the roots of Jazz by Bluesy Swing. Audiences are moved by this high class, soul stirring review"

The 'Uptown' Review is supported by a musically diverse Quintet that adds deep dynamics to the show. Each member is heavily influenced by Jazz, yet adds their own distinct flavor to the mix making them fresh and approachable for audiences. 'Uptown's' featured saxophone soloist and vocalist, Brian Lange has been an active jazz educator, performer, leader and mentor in music for over 25 years. Known and respected for his rich and full

tenor tone, Brian plays soulful melodies and expressive solos, skillfully pairing his musical intuition with any genre. Deep soul comes from Glen Chapman who lends a heavenly hand on the keys for this modern Cotton Club review. A life-time musician, Glen is rooted in Gospel as a current Minister of Music who is working on an original Gospel CD. 'Uptown's' rhythm section holds it all together and supports the balance for this full expression of Jazz song. Clarence 'Booney' Dottery creates the perfect pocket, combining his diverse performance experience with musical intelligence. Finally at 'Uptown's' center is a powerfully full Jazz bassist. Louis Rudner is working under the tutelage of world renowned bassist Mr Rodney Whitaker. Louis casts a strong presence over the 'Uptown' band.  He lays a foundation of Jazz bedrock for this ensemble to support the dynamic Twyla Birdsong. Together the combination presents an intimate, embraceable remembrance of Jazz that audiences feel a part of.
